Emily is a writer and spiritual director living in Dallas, Texas. She spent the first part of her professional journey working in communications and fundraising in both leadership and support roles at non-profits in Dallas and Washington, D.C. In 2018, Emily received her Certification in Spiritual Direction from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University and in March 2020, felt called to focus full-time on writing and spiritual direction services.

As a deep listener, Emily loves creating space for participants in spiritual direction as together they notice, ponder, question and celebrate the Holy. She guides individuals to listen and make sense of their divine wiring and identity in God taking great joy in gently encouraging directees to explore areas of their life where they feel stuck and/or disconnected from themselves, the Holy and the world around them.

Guided meditation, nature walks, dream exploration, lectio divina and other contemplative practices are some of the tools Emily incorporates into sessions within her spiritual direction practice as she welcomes both a tailored and open approach for each person.

Emily is grateful to have been called to the work of companioning with others in this sacred way and is committed to her own physical, mental and spiritual health through regular participation in supervision, a place she engages in spiritual accountability with other directors and a trained spiritual supervisor where best practices are discussed.

Whether you’ve been a spiritual seeker all of your life, are going or have gone through a faith deconstruction, you are churched or unchurched, there is a place for you in spiritual direction.

A complimentary, initial consultation session is required before beginning work together. To set up time to visit with Emily, send her a note. ZOOM and in-person sessions are available.

Additional: As someone who likes a good story and enjoys bringing things back to life, in her leisure time, Emily finds herself styling and un-styling collectables and repurposed items in her home. She also enjoys travel, reading, cooking, walking and finding local hikes in her hometown of Dallas as well as spending time with her husband Michael and family. Writing about the contemplative life through poetry and other feature style pieces has also become integral to her rule for life. You can read her work here. As modern-day mystic, author and poet Parker Palmer says, “I write to understand what I know.”

In case you’re wondering: INFJ; Enneagram 4. Top five strengths include empathy, input, connectedness, intellection and responsiblity.
